Lyman was Odie's original owner. One day Lyman came crawling on his knees to Jon to take him in. Jon accepted, and with Lyman came Odie. Lyman came very suddenly, and left just as quick. After a few months of Lyman, he vanished, but Odie stayed with Jon/ Back when Lyman still existed, Jim Davis thought he would provide a person for Jon to talk to. Later, this place was taken by Garfield.
